SVIMS Staff Nurse Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must satisfy either of the following two routes:

  • Route 1: B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized university, and registration with the Andhra Pradesh Nursing Council.

  • Route 2: Intermediate examination or an equivalent qualification, and a General Nursing Course of three years' duration plus Midwifery training of six months' duration from an institution recognized by the Nursing Council of India, plus three years of experience in a Medical College/tertiary care hospital, and registration with the Andhra Pradesh Nursing Council.

Desirable qualifications: BLS & ACLS training certificates, and knowledge of computer applications.

Selection is based on a total of 100 marks, distributed as follows:

75 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 90-minute duration. No negative marking. Conducted through AP Online Service at various test centres.

1 mark per completed 6-month block of relevant service in Govt./Semi-Govt./Public Sector institutions or hospitals with a minimum 500-bed strength meeting statutory (EPF/ESI) compliance. Maximum 15 marks.

Conducted after shortlisting based on written test and experience marks.

Additional points on selection:

  • If total applications received for the post are less than 10, selection is based on weightage of marks in the qualifying examination, experience, and interview. If applications exceed 10, a computer-based online test is conducted.

  • Minimum qualifying marks in the CBT: 40% for OC & EWS, 35% for BC, and 30% for SC, ST & PwBD categories.

  • The question paper for the CBT will be in English.

  • Where two or more candidates score equal marks, the elder candidate (by age) is given preference; in case of a further tie, the candidate with more experience is preferred.

  • A waitlist is maintained for a period of one year in case a provisionally selected candidate does not join.

  • Selection is provisional and subject to verification of original certificates, community/local status, experience, antecedents, and medical fitness.

  • Candidates must not be in a bigamous marriage and must not have been convicted by any court of law to be eligible.

SVIMS Staff Nurse Syllabus (Computer-Based Test)

The CBT syllabus, as per Annexure-I of the notification, is divided into two parts:

Part A - Core Nursing Subjects

  • Basic Sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology

  • Fundamentals of Nursing: basic procedures, biomedical waste management, first aid, medication administration, patient ethics and records

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing including Pharmacology: cardiovascular, respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, renal, neurological, oncology, palliative and critical care nursing, OT protocols, pre/post-operative care, BCLS, drug dosage computation

  • Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing: reproductive systems, maternal health, gynaecological disorders, neonatal emergencies and NICU

  • Child Health Nursing: growth and development, paediatric care including NICU, childhood diseases, ENBC, FBNBC, PLS

  • Mental Health Nursing: assessment, psychiatric disorders, therapeutic interventions and counselling

  • Nursing Management, Supervision & Nursing Education: leadership, ward/hospital management, health education, HIMS

  • Community Health Nursing: epidemiology, immunization, public health services, national health schemes

Part B - General Knowledge & Aptitude

  • Mathematical aptitude: number systems, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, averages, profit and loss, interest

  • General English and Computers: reading comprehension, error spotting, grammar, vocabulary, health/nursing information technology

SVIMS Staff Nurse Required Documents

Candidates must upload clear scanned copies of original certificates at the time of online application, including:

  • Date of birth proof / SSC certificate

  • Educational qualification certificates and marks memos of the prescribed qualifying examinations

  • Community certificate (for SC/ST/BC candidates, showing the specific classification/group), issued by the competent authority

  • EWS certificate (where applicable), issued on or after 1 April 2026 by the concerned Tahsildar, confirming gross annual family income for FY 2025-26 is below ₹8,00,000

  • Valid SADAREM certificate specifying nature and percentage of disability (for PwBD candidates)

  • Original certificates for Meritorious Sports Persons category (as per G.O.Ms.No.47, dated 19.04.2025), where applicable

  • Discharge Certificate and Pension Order (for Ex-Servicemen category), where applicable

  • Study/residence certificate (Appendix-I format, as per G.O.Ms.No.729, dated 01.11.1975)

  • Valid Andhra Pradesh Nursing Council Registration Certificate (mandatory)

  • Latest and original Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by the concerned Tahsildar

  • Experience certificate(s) from the Head(s) of the concerned institution/organization, along with EPF statements for the last 2 years

  • No Objection Certificate from the employer, if currently employed in a government department

  • Salary proof/pay slips and EPF/ESI statements, wherever applicable
