GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details

A total of 4599 vacancies have been notified for the post of Driver. Reservation is available category-wise for General (Unreserved), EWS, SEBC, SC, ST candidates. Ex-Serviceman reservation is also available. Female candidates have separate reserved slots within each category.

GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions as on the last date of application i.e. 05/07/2026. All original certificates for educational qualification, age, caste, experience, and other qualifications must be in possession of the candidate at the time of applying.

GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

Age is calculated as on the last date of application i.e. 05/07/2026. For General (Unreserved) male candidates, the age limit is 25 to 35 years (Date of Birth: 05/07/1991 to 05/07/2001). Under no circumstances shall the age exceed 45 years even after all applicable relaxations.

Note: General female candidates get 5 years relaxation over the male upper age limit. All reserved category male candidates get 5 years relaxation. All reserved category female candidates get 10 years relaxation. Ex-Serviceman candidates get relaxation as per GAD notification dated 22/01/2018 (service period + 3 years). Maximum age in all cases must not exceed 45 years as on 05/07/2026.

GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

The online process fee is mandatory for all candidates at the time of filling the application on https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. If a candidate submits multiple application forms, only the last submitted form will be considered, and it must have the fee paid; otherwise all forms will be rejected.

GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection will be made through a two-stage process: an OMR-based Written Test followed by a Driving Test. Final merit is based on combined weightage of both stages (40% OMR + 60% Driving Test = 100%).

Stage 1 – OMR Written Test (100 Marks, 100 Questions, 60 Minutes)

All applicants will be called for the 100-mark OMR-based competitive written test. There is no minimum passing mark for the written test, however candidates scoring 0 (zero) or below will not be eligible for the Driving Test. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong/blank/overwritten answer applies. If a candidate marks option (E) intentionally to skip a question, no negative marks will be deducted for that response. The exam medium is Gujarati except English Grammar section.

Stage 2 – Driving Test (50 Marks)

Top merit-ranked candidates from the OMR test will be called for the Driving Test in a 1:2 ratio against notified vacancies (category-wise). The Driving Test is conducted at GSRTC’s Automatic Driving Test Centre on GSRTC’s designated vehicle. Minimum passing marks: 35 out of 50. Candidates scoring below 35 will be declared failed. No re-test will be held under any circumstances. Height measurement using GSRTC’s certified machine will be conducted before the Driving Test.

Final Merit & Selection Weightage

Candidates who pass the Driving Test will have their combined weightage score calculated, and the final merit list will be prepared based on 100% combined score against category-wise vacancies. Waiting list will be prepared at 20% of the notified vacancies category-wise.

Stage 3 – Document Verification & Medical Fitness

Selected candidates will undergo document verification of all original certificates. Appointment will be made subject to medical fitness as confirmed by the designated authority. Performance review will be conducted after 2 years of service; only those with satisfactory performance will continue for the remaining period.

Who should NOT apply for GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026?

• Candidates who do not possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence (HGV/HPV/PSV) issued by RTO as on the last date of application.

• Male candidates who do not have a PSV Badge at the time of submitting the online application.

• Male candidates who do not have minimum 4 years of heavy vehicle driving experience after obtaining their HGV/HPV licence.

• Candidates who do not meet the minimum height requirement (162 cm for General males, 160 cm for ST males, 158 cm for females).

• Candidates who have colour blindness or impaired vision.

• Candidates whose Std. 12 / equivalent qualification or computer certificate was obtained after the last date of application (05/07/2026).

• Candidates who possess only a manual/book-type driving licence - Smart Card licence is mandatory at document verification.

• Candidates whose experience is from driving a 108 Ambulance - ambulances are not classified as heavy vehicles and such experience is not valid.

• Candidates with a pending criminal case or Court conviction that has not been disposed of at the time of appointment.

• Candidates from other states claiming Gujarat-state reservation benefits such as SC/ST/SEBC/EWS.

Common mistakes / What to check before applying GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026?

• Not having a PSV Badge at the time of online application - PSV badge obtained after submitting the form will not be accepted and the application will be cancelled.

• Showing experience before the date of HGV/HPV/PSV licence issuance - only experience after the licence issue date is valid.

• Uploading a photograph or signature that does not belong to the applicant - the application will be cancelled outright.

• Photo size exceeding 10 KB or signature exceeding 10 KB - images must be in JPG format within the specified size limits (Photo: 5 cm H x 3.6 cm W; Signature: 2.5 cm H x 7.5 cm W).

• Filling multiple application forms with different spellings of name/father/husband name, which may generate multiple call letters - only the last submitted form will be considered.

• Not confirming the application after submission - the form is not registered until the Confirm Application button is clicked.

• Not paying the online process fee - application is invalid without fee payment, even if the form is filled and confirmed.

• SEBC/EWS candidates not having a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued within the prescribed period (01/04/2024 to 05/07/2026 for SEBC; 06/07/2023 to 05/07/2026 for EWS).

• Not informing the current employer within 7 days of applying and not obtaining an NOC before the Driving Test, if in government/semi-government service.

Candidates must apply online only through the OJAS portal at https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in. The application process involves filling personal details, educational qualification, experience and computer knowledge details, uploading photo and signature, confirming the application, and paying the online process fee.

• Scanned passport-size photograph (JPG, max 10 KB, 5 cm H x 3.6 cm W).

• Scanned signature (JPG, max 10 KB, 2.5 cm H x 7.5 cm W).

• SSC (Std. 10) Board certificate as proof of date of birth (Birth certificate / extract not acceptable).

• Std. 12 Mark Sheet / Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification certificate.

• Computer Knowledge certificate / marksheet as per Gujarat Government resolution Dt. 13/08/2008.

• Valid Smart Card Driving Licence (HGV/HPV/PSV) - manual/book-type not accepted at document verification.

• PSV Badge (mandatory at the time of online application).

• Experience certificate from transporter / company / travels with owner’s signature and seal (minimum 4 years; for the exact same period as mentioned in the application form).

• Caste certificate for SC/ST/SEBC/EWS from competent authority (issued in applicant’s name along with father’s/mother’s name).

• SEBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (Parishisht-4 in Gujarati or Annexure-A in English) issued between 01/04/2024 and 05/07/2026.

• EWS Income and Asset Certificate (Annexure-KH in English or Parishisht-Ga in Gujarati) issued between 06/07/2023 and 05/07/2026.

• Discharge Book and Identity Card / Certificate for Ex-Serviceman candidates.

• Marriage Certificate / Notarized Affidavit / Gazette copy (for married female candidates who have shown husband’s name in place of father’s name).

• Sports Certificate (if claiming 5% bonus marks) - from competent authority in prescribed format.

• Widow Certificate, husband’s death certificate, and affidavit of no re-marriage (for widow candidates claiming 5% bonus marks).

• NOC from Head of Office/Department (for candidates in government/semi-government service) - to be produced at Driving Test time.

Important Instructions for GSRTC Driver Recruitment 2026 Candidates

• Online applications are open from 06/06/2026 to 05/07/2026 up to 23:59 hours. Fee can be paid till 07/07/2026 up to 23:59 hours.

• If more than one application is submitted, only the last application will be considered and all earlier ones will be automatically cancelled.

• Applications once confirmed cannot be modified; candidates must verify all details using “Show Application Preview” before clicking “Confirm Application”.

• Selected candidates will be appointed to any division / depot as per GSRTC’s requirement anywhere in Gujarat.
